FAQ, Installation (CD based), Question 1

How can you release a blocked network license manually?

Sometimes network licenses are still blocked for a certain while even though they are not used anymore by a Cubus application program. For example this is the case when a program is terminated via the Windows Task Manager. In order to use the license again instantly the license has to be freed manually as described below. To do this you need the IP address of your computer.

  1. Start the „Aladdin Monitor” either via the CubusExplorer (new web-based installation) or CubusManager (old CD-based installation).

  2. The left part of the Aladdin Monitor window contains a tree view. Open the path up to the network hardlock. On the right side you will see a list with the current login entries.

The login table contains a column labeled as „Login ID” with network addresses of the HLClients and a column labeled as „Task ID” with tokens of the Cubus application programs according to the next table (only 6th and 7th character):

Each application program that is protected by the HLService creates at least two entries in the login table: A common entry and an entry for identifying the corresponding application via the task ID. The beginning of the task IDs of these two entries are equal.

In the example above the login entry No 9 refers to the application STATIK. The corresponding common entry is No 8 which has a task ID with the same beginning 0x1CF8 as entry No 9.

  3. Select the desired entries of the login table and click on [Delete Entry] at the lower border of the Aladdin Monitor window in each case.
Note: Be careful when you select an entry. If you release a login of someone else the corresponding application of this person raises an error message and can just be terminated afterwards.
