False alarm of the antivirus programs
Error message
Unfortunately, some antivirus programs currently „recognize” the application „CubusDrv.exe” incorrectly as a Trojan. This application is part of the new web-based installation in the „CubusServices_104.msi” package.
With this error the CubusExplorer starts normally, but when starting a Cubus application the following error message appears:
Cause
The cause is your installed antivirus solution. „CubusDrv.exe” is incorrectly recognized as a Trojan and blocked or even deleted. This prevents all Cubus applications from running correctly.
It does not matter how long you have installed our software. The error can occur immediately after the update. However, it can also happen that you have already successfully installed the update and have been working with the latest version for a while.
We have done everything within our sphere of influence so that you can use the Cubus programs without restrictions. Unfortunately we have no influence on the developers of the antivirus programs, so we are all dependent on their definitions.
Troubleshooting
„CubusDrv.exe” is blocked or even deleted by your antivirus solution. This prevents all Cubus applications from running correctly.
If you should also suddenly be affected by this phenomenon, please proceed as follows:
- You have to define the path „C:\Windows\SysWOW64\Cubus” in your antivirus program as an exception. This prevents the necessary applications from being deleted during installation. This is also necessary with regard to future updates.
- Create an exception for „CubusDrv.exe”. in your antivirus. This no longer prevents this application from running.
- You may have to restart the PC for the changes to the settings to take effect.
- If possible, restore „CubusDrv.exe” from the quarantine of your antivirus program. However, if the application was not blocked but completely deleted, you have to download and install the „CubusServices_104.msi” again from install.cubus.ch.
- You may have to restart your PC after completing these steps for the Cubus services to load correctly. You can check this by testing in the Windows Task Manager that „CubusDrv.exe” is running as a background process in the tab sheet „Processes”.
